Violinist, vocalist and composer, curator of KlangHaus Untergreith and Phonofemme together with Zahra Mani. Lives and works in south Styria and in Vienna; studied the violin at the Vienna Conservatory with Alexander Arnekov and composition and electro-acoustic music at the University for Music and performing Art in Vienna with Roman Haubenstock Ramati, Kurt Schwetsik and Dieter Kaufmann, and music and journalism at the University of Vienna. Studied abroad in Cologne, Berlin and New York.
For more than ten years she has been engaged in the development of experimental improvisation techniques on the electric violin and using her voice. Her focus is on exploring relationships between the body, gesture, sound and space. She also uses electronic machines and instruments and a computer to create broader sonic spectra. Physical directness and the enjoyment of experimental processes characterise her musical imagery, in a constant effort to achieve greater complexity and simultaneous transparency.
She is widely regarded as one of the leading protagonists of music performance and electro-acoustic, improvised music in Austria and often engages in interdisciplinary work, bringing together various artistic genres including theatre, performance, literature, music and new media.

“Composer in Residence” at Kunststation St. Peter in Cologne, work at the electronic studio of the broadcasting organisation WDR, ZKM Karlsruhe, at STEIM in Amsterdam and at the experimental studio of the Warsaw broadcasting organisation.
Numerous prizes and awards; guest of the DAAD international artist programme; stipends from the Austrian BM:UKK / BKA Kunst, the Fulbright Commission, and the Lower Austrian state government; three time winner of the Ars Electronic award (1988, 1993, 1994), winner of the WDR composition competition.

She works with DJs and electronic musicians including I-Wolf (Wolfgang Schlögl), DJ Still, Dälek, Gerhard Potuznik, Rubert Huber, Robin Rimbaud and Electric Indigo. Her work was profoundly influenced by her acquaintanceship and work with John Cage, Pauline Oliveros, Alvin Curran, Malcolm Goldstein and Andres Bosshard.
